I WILL ANSWER THE QUESTION FROM MY EXPERIENCE IN RETAIL WORLD, THE THIRD LAW OF MOTION SAYS, TO EVERY REACTION, THERE MUST BE AN ACTION.

SALES IS THE REACTION THAT FOLLOWS THE ACTION OF MARKETING IN THE RETAIL WORLD. IF THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT FAILS, THE SALES DEPARTMENT IS NOT FAR FROM FAILURE EITHER. SALES AND MARKETING WORKS HAND IN HAND. AS A SALES MAN, I INFORM THE MARKETING TEAM WHAT THE CUSTOMERS ARE LOOKING OUT FOR, THEN THEY GO BACK AND STRATEGIES BASED ON MY INFORMATION. THEN ONCE THE MARKETING TEAM DELIVERS ON THE INNOVATION BASED ON WHAT MY CUSTOMERS ARE REQUESTING, WOW, THE SALES TEAM THEN STRIKE TO GET THE GOODS AND SERVICES TURN INTO CASH BY EXCHANGING IT TO CUSTOMERS.

IN A NUT SHELL, I WILL SAY THE BOTH WORKS TOGETHER BUT HAS IT JURISDICTION, BUT I CAN TELL YOU, THE BOTH FINALLY NEEDS EACH OTHER TO GET RESULT. BUT LET ME GIVE THIS FEW TIPS OF DIFFERENCE IN OPERATION.

Sales are the transfer of ownership of goods and services from one person or an organization to another for some value, whereas Marketing is the act of analyzing the market and understanding the needs of the customers in such a way that whenever a new innovation is launched, it sells itself. Sales are one to one relationship while marketing is one to many relationships. Sales is customer oriented, but marketing is product-oriented.Sales focus on the individual, i.e. direct interaction with the customer and persuading him to purchase the product, but marketing concentrates on the general public, i.e. creating the value of a product to increase sales.

In sales, the customer is viewed as the last link, i.e. the product is created first and then sold to customers. On the other hand, in marketing, the customer is given priority, as first of all the needs are identified and after that sold to customers. Sales is a short term process while marketing is a long term process. The selling process involves an exchange of goods for monetary consideration. On the flip side, marketing involves identifying the needs of customers and satisfying them.

ON YOUR SECOND QUESTION,

TO BECOME A SUCCESSFUL SALES MANAGER FOR EXAMPLE IN A RETAIL WORLD, YOU MUST HAVE THE MERCHANDISE (PRODUCT)KNOWLEDGE ,SHOULD BE PURPOSE DRIVEN, MULTI TASKING AND RESILENCE , SHOULD BE KNOW HIS OR HER CUSTOMERS CLASSES AND NEEDS, SHOULD BE A GOOD TEAM PLAYER SO TO WORK WITH EVERY OTHER DEPARTMENT TO ACHIEVE RESULTS.
