Support your team members; be truthful to them; share information with all; help them as much as possible; do not stress them unnecessarily; motivate them; reward the right people, never bias; hear both sides in case of argument and judge properly; tell the members on face if they are wrong; never speak bad of team member behind their back as they will somehow or the other come to know if it, thereby leaving a bad impression. I know of a PM who does not agree with clients when the client asks him to get employees working on the weekend. He says I dont like to work on weekends and I dont want my staff to work on weekends. Similarly I know of a project manager who waited with him team members till late night when they had some urgent work. All this motivates the staff to work good with the PM and for the PM. If the PM likes to work hard, fine, but do not unnecessary pressurize team members. I know of a SDM who, i dont know, even slept. He used to wake up his team members at5 in the morning so that they can finish work assigned to them. THis is irritating.
