Hello Lana
From experience I would say that everybody loves games in an educational context, even adults. Which games depends on the subject you are teaching. Most activities can be turned into games by introducing the element of competition, e.g. divide the class in two, the winner is the first team to complete the task/exercise. Learners can run to the board to e.g. stick vocabulary item on the pictures.

I'll start with my own experiences. My father took my niece out of a well established and famous school because the school had no Playground. amazingly my niece performed% better in the next school which was equipped with
Playgrounds
VPS (Visual Projection System)
Eureka (Learning Software for Junior, Elementary and High Schools)
Spacious Classrooms
Swings, Sea-Saw and several other equipment for kids' playing.
This is not the only case. during my year tenure of teaching and tuition, I noticed that you have to arrange groups of kids with different interests and capabilities. If a child is interested in computer games, whether educational games or other, he should be taught through this as well as with formal system. If a kid gets involved in tools, you must arrange something for him to work with. If a kid likes playing football, hockey etc., then the teacher must make a group of such kids.
At the end the teacher must include learning in every step he/she takes. there must be a lot to learn in games, art or anything teacher is conducting in or out of the class.
Example: Some students get crazy when the see butterflies and try to catch them, these students must be grouped and at least once a month taken to the fields for better learning.
Finally: Nothing could help teacher or student if;
any one of them is cheater, irresponsible, in-reliable, liar.
Remember: Laziness can be controlled. Inner conflicts and thoughts cannot be. So teacher has to make his/her students
Truthful, Reliable, Responsible. Simply you should work on ETHICS first.
I say: Knowledge is something like memorising, but learning is far more superior than that.
Learning becomes habit, while knowledge is required when and where needed.
