PI, PD, and PID are three types of control algorithms that are commonly used in control systems.

  1. PI (Proportional-Integral) Control: This algorithm adjusts the control output based on the error signal between the desired setpoint and the actual process value, using both proportional and integral terms. PI control is used to eliminate steady-state errors and is commonly used in temperature and flow control applications.

  2. PD (Proportional-Derivative) Control: This algorithm adjusts the control output based on the rate of change of the error signal, using both proportional and derivative terms. PD control is used to reduce overshoot and settle the process value faster. It is commonly used in robotics and motion control applications.

  3. PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) Control: This algorithm combines the proportional, integral, and derivative terms to provide precise control over the process variable. PID control is widely used in a variety of applications, including temperature, pressure, flow, and motion control.

The PID controller is the most commonly used control algorithm due to its ability to provide accurate control of a wide range of systems, even in the presence of disturbances or changes in the system dynamics.

control system is a collection of various elements like process, controller, feedabck element. All these are required to keep the process on track or in other words we can say we want a pirticular output from process by giving it a pirticular input but due to distrubance or parameter variation process may go track or error may be introduced so to get a desired output we implement a control system along with process. This control system is of various types like

P- proportional It outputs a value which is proportional to to error signal

I- Integral It integrates the error over time and outputs the sum of error and good for reducing stedy state error

D- Derivative It is used for considering rate of change of error, it tends to reduce continously changing error and helpful in reducing oscillations or we can say maximum overshoot

Sometimes these controllers are used in combination for better result like PI(proportional+Integral)   PD(Proportional+Derivative) PID(Proportional+Integral+Derivative)
