Thanks
I will do it by myself !
First to get the task done either through another team member or by self.
understand the reason for the absence of the team member . If it is first time disciplinary issue counsel member with a firm message repetition of the same is not acceptable.
If it is a genuine issue support him to get over the problem as possible
will check this particular work activity is on critical path OR it has any float to take it up the next day.
if it is on critical path, then i will divert the resources from other activities to this activity to achieve the target date.
Complete it like a leader and deal later with the member
Sit with another member of your team, explain the context, the target and the contraints and follow up the work done. When the team member who was absent returns, inform him/her who you assigned the job to and make sure that appropriate feedbacks on the job status are given to the person who returned in order to take back the work load.
Firstly as a team leader i would never wait till the due date.
In worst cicumstances if at all i come across such situation as a team leader i would represent all his data in his absece and will convey the appropriate reason for his absense
First contact with Team Member and then contact the end user, then based on job requirement should take the decision considering the loss due to the Scheduled task If the manageable wait for same person if not manageable go for the alternate arrangement.
That's easy.
Re-plan. Gather resources and man-hours, if an extension is needed then negotiate for extra hours.
If we go the route to negotiate for an extension, then so be it. I wouldn't sacrifice quality because my team member misses to do his task.
Anyways, leaves were already counted and this kind of absence seems important.
I know deadlines are important to impress the clients, I also understand the importance of quality.
Would call back all team members available then find who can accomplish it or rather do it as ateam though division of labour due to specialisation.
you must prepared one of your staff to fill this gap temporary by training your staff to do the team work but in the same field
