you need few things to earn the confidence of anyone not only foreign employee:

• Be honest.
• Do not deal with him - her as an alien.
• Try to reach a common points.
• Do your job and achieve your goal.

First of all it really depends what level are you with him or her so that you know what level you can help.

Seconldy, very important is to understand what country they belong to, the culture they are coming from, the environment or company they have worked for because all these are factors that would affect the way they perform, behave and fit in.  

these factors are to be considered while interacting with them.  its extremely important.  

Once they see respect for their culture, their expertise, their behaviour and what they bring with them, confidence starts building up.
