As we are talking about "Human Beings", of course there is no space for "Perfectionist", but we have to deal with personal behavior in order to improve same as much as we can by maximizing his positive attitude and minimizing his negative one.
Do you think that there is a perfectionist at work? so if we have perfictionist at work, I am sure there will be no accident and /or we will reduce the accidents / incidents to the as low as reasonable possible. coz the one who will conduct the work will follow the procedureword by word and step by step as a perfectionist; regardless the time of conducting the work.

My answer, in brief ,is : Being a perfectionist is tiring for you and helpful to others
Anything in the extreme is bad and can affect your performance and health in the long run. The first issue is that it will affect your decison making skills as you will keep on thinking there might be a better solution to a problem. It might cause burn outs and affect your health. Being a perfectionist can also frustrate the people around you as you will are never satisfied of their output. You will also end up doing all the work as perfectionists have difficulty delegating tasks to others. Similarly, you would have difficulty finishing tasks as you are never happy with your own results as you keep thinking yu can still do it better.
But the positive aspect is to conciously being aware if you have this issue of being a perfectionist. If you are aware , then you could draw a balance by finding methods to prevent extreme situations. It is advised that such people have dealines for themselves so that you will end a task you need to deliver. The other is to conciously start delegating to others.
Being perfectionist is a good thing. but i believe in being Flexible Perfectionaist. One cannot be stringent on few aspects. he / she has to be flexible to get the things done.
For me Perfectionist is a extreme attitude it will lead to depression when someone fall short of high expectation.or unreliastic goal. Moderate is more subtle and safe.
Being perfect is always good.
Why : When you answer your counterparts or to Superiors, you won't give a vague answer. If you do not know the answer , find out and get back to him / her.
Business leaders do not like imperfect responses. A manager or a leader seeks your response, because of you know about it.
One must have a balance and can't be a perfectionist as it will lessen the speed of work or decision making. One has to be situational. It might also make you an individual contributor rather than a value multiplier and team player.
