Here is a simple process that I use to implement successful content marketing strategies for my clients.
1. Identify your target visitors. Identify what would be the potential question(s) they would ask on google regarding your topic/products/services/brand.
2 Study the keywords on that question (Use tools like Moz, Google Keywords Planner, Wordstream,...) and see what pages rank better for those keywords.
Analyze those pages and the content they provide regarding your topic.
3. Write the best answer to that question. Make sure you answer is not stuffed with those specific keywords. Depending on the topic, make sure you give a detailed answer. However, don't make it long just for the sake of length.
4. Make sure you write a short description (no more than characters) of your answer that you will serve as a meta description for your page. Even though there is no direct connection between meta descriptions and page ranking, the description is what makes people click on your link. The more people click on your link, the more trust your page gains. as a consequence, your page ranks higher. Besides, make sure the description is unique, don't put the same description for various pages, Search engines won't know which page is the best for the searched question.
5. Write the perfect H1 Title Tag. H1 tag is an HTML tag that indicates a heading on a website. H1 are also a major ranking factor for search engines. So, make sure you have a killer H1 for each page on your website. It should describe what the content is all about. It also should range from to characters. It should be big, strong, compelling and noticeable. One more thing, make sure you create an H1 that provide the best user experience.
6. Be patient, your page won't appear on the top of a google result from day1. You can monitor its ranking and adjust your content accordingly.
