Up to a certain level yes, i believe nearly each company can have a facebook. But the comapny must actually gain some advantage to using facebook. In my opinion a company should only have a facebook if:
1- The company wishes to create a communication channel between the company and its clients
2- To market their products/services with the intention of increasing sales, and strengthen its service/product's branding.

But I would say everyonce can benifit from Social media, be it fb,twitter, linkedin etc in some way or the other, but be careful in choosing your medium and moreover engage with your audience.
Having a Facebook page isn't a necessity... However, Facebook today is considered the number one online-social-media tool, in which having a page under your company's name would definitely add a value to the company's marketing strategy as well as increase loyalty and create a friendly environment for clients and suppliers to communicate and stay updated on latest news and events.
FaceBook has become the biggest source of social media marketing, there is no harm in having a fb account by Corporates / Schools / Universities to keep update their customers. students and general people with the latest offers, new products, alerts from fraudlent dealing and very useful during emergencies (civil wars, curfews, natural calamities)

The need to leverage social media for business is a no-brainer at this point, but a company's effectiveness on Facebook can be hampered if the account isn't set up properly.
