thank you Sherein Sorour for the invitation .
Yes , the structural elements like columns and Beams and etc are some of the interior designers challenges , but the professional designer has the ability to solve these problems so easy , it depends on his work experience in the field and his creativity .

the structural elements of anything, are considered a necessary part to complete its form and function, but the cleverness to manage its rules to an artistic way remains the eternal challenge between the conceptual art and the engineering sciences

I would say almost 90% the answer is a yes...but yet again, it's the creativity of the designer to use it to his/her advantage & make it seem as if it was intended as a part of the design..
It's a challenge, but the type that opens up your mind to new possibilities & excercises your tolerence and flexibility (which is what the real market/world is all about) it's rarely that you'll have the chance to excute every single aspect of your initial design without some compromises

We can exploit it in the favor of design, especially in interior design it may be an obstacle in spaces that require continuity so We should discuss the structure of the building and suitability to the requirements of interior design .

I belive the good civil enginnering can find the solution .
The columns could be hidden by beautiful wall column.
The slab could be dy girders horizontal and vertical.
The other solution is the decorate.
So then you must have an insperation and to be in psycologie of your client to adore it.

yes. to construct halls , oditorium  etc type of sstructures the column are really a challenge.

but there is a lot of solution of such problems.

  • we can use cuffered slab instead to other general slabs.
  • we can use consile beam slabs
  • we can use reversed beam slabs
  • even in some cases we can use FRC i.e fibre reinforced concrete slabs

That depends upon the view and design of any architectural layout

Being a structural engineer, u have to deal with architects who are of the view to build the structure in air so as to provide as much space for living as they can.
But from engineering point of view an engineer hae to utilize his aesthetic sense and prior experience to make the structure as safe as possible.
Hence the arrangement of columns for a design engineer can be a challenge.
