Why should the teacher clarify to his students how their writing will be evaluated?

I have a degree in physical education and sports and personally work with my students so they get progress. First, the teacher has to say to the students how they are going to be evaluated and make a plan so they get ready for the evaluation at the end. To have good students you have to be a good teacher
