Are Revenue Generating teams given special or different treatment from Support Function teams (Hr, Admin, Finance)?
most of high operational companies do it , and the secret behind that that most of decision makers come from revenue generating teams
Revenue generating teams are the spoiled kids of the entreprise.they are confident ,carismatic, smart working professionals that made it a career to positively interact with consumers.
on the other side we have the other support functions professionals who most iof the time lack the carisma of the revenue generating teams.
they are both important to the success of the business, but i believe you are right they do receive a better treatment as long as they are successfull otherwise they are the workhorse of the organization.
so it is a two way street for the revenue generating professionals.
as for the supportive team i believe they are treated at the same level throughout there career.
Any staff memebr on board must be required to achieve corporate goals, i.e. he/she is required for generating revenue, otherwise he/she should not be on board. Therefore, I don't see that any differentiation should take place.
i think that , the two team in the same appreciation level , bonus , appraisal
No we treat all rthe sme, but reqard differentiated (to make things easy). We have the organization set up in jobfamilies, where f.i. commercial is a jobfamily. These jobfamilies are priced (HAY) and a payline is linked t the jobfamily. In this way market price, driven by carcity of competencies etc. defines how we reward the groups. As a consequence f.i. HR is rated as one of the highest, as internationally HR skills (professional HR, not HR admin) is very had to come by. Next to HR, also production is rated at a higher level, but Sales is not. This has nothing to do with how we appreciate them, but their value in the labour market. So we treat every one the same, but pay, depending on their market value in the country they work in. Senior executives are treated as part of a global benchmark, there we have a primary benchmarkgroup (operations etc) and a support benchmarkgroup. The paydfifferences are there again set based on the market values of the benchmarkgroups.
Yes in certain ways because some people in my office think revenue generating teams adds more value because they are the front end driving force.
But in my personal view every department is important in a company if there is no support function teams people will not have computers working, chairs , tables (inventory) , tea and coffee at place, most important salaries in accounts, no one will remind on timely appraisals.
So, if revenue team needs recognisition it can be bought by support of functional teams like HR, Admin,Finance.
I guess if there is smart management they will know imortance of each department and their roles in company's success and growth
yes but in the way which is going to help us to performe better, as revenue generating teams are always working within 24 hours, rotational days and even on buisness demand time.
yes, the company differentiate between revenue generating teams and support function teams through different ways, the pressure on the revenue generating team is more because they are mainly placed on target and they are also paid on commission basis. they are the main source of income for the company, the risk is more on them than the support team
Yes, companies differentiate between revenue-generating teams and support function teams based on their roles, performance metrics, and contributions to overall revenue.
The question is not clear enough. First of all, what do you mean by differentiating between them here ( What types of differentiatins)?
yes but in the way which is going to help us to performe better, as revenue generating teams are always working within 24 hours, rotational days off while support function teams are having 2 shifts only and fixed days off.
