There are different types of DR strategy available in market and more you go on higher side, need to spend more $$$$$ values. Like 1. Cold DR 2. Warm DR 3. Hot DR 4. Multi-Cloud HA
We are in process of implementing or DR in AWS. Cold DR for now
following needs to be consider:
1. Transfer all backup data to cloud storage on daily basis
2. make sure all OS and Kernels are compatible to AWS EC2, in case you need to start them up on cloud
3. Have a restore system implemented and tested, at least twice a year have a drill for critical system
4. IP and other consideration when starting servers on cloud because most likely they will be different than your production environment
5. Make sure you have all physical appliances available as a virtual appliance.
