I think one of the best ways is to do the market research and think of the problems that consumers are encountering. Because when problems are being encountered, then that would give you chance to think of how can you solve it.. in what way.. so that would give you idea to come up with business idea.
Effective ideas can be used as fast as you can apply in reality to gain competitive advantage in real business world.
initially what i suggest is try to get some ideas and views from your employees, then is possible try and ask your existing employees on what skills and strengths they like about us and on what role should we improve and all.
