Very interesting question.

 

German and English are both Romanic languages. Therefore they are comparable to each other.

 

You will find a lot of German words in English and vice versa.

 

Nevertheless English and German are completely different when it comes to gramma and the cultural background of the languages.

English is a very easy language. You can pick it up quickly and people will understand you easily, even if you make mistakes.

German is more restricted. German usually has3 or4 words for one English word and every one of them is used in different circumstances. (Similar to English "Jammed" and "Stuck". Basically the same meaning but still not fully exchangeable in every situation).

 

I am working a lot with foreigners who come to Germany to learn German and most of them say that German is one of the most complicated languages to learn wheras English is rather easy.

 

So to answer your question: NO, they are not the same.
