What is land surveying? and does it relate to quantity survey?

Land surveying is: the of civil engineering related to finding dimensions levels and area and all the geometric required data from a site.
Quantity surveying is: finding the required quantities and numbers of required resources especially in construction works field .

LAND SURVEYING INCLUDES GETTING INFORMATION OF THE SITE WHICH INCLUDES THE DIMENSIONS OF PLOT,LEVEL WHICH COULD BE OBTAINED FROM LEVELLING INSTRUMENT ETC.
BESIDES THIS IT INLUDES THE INFORMATION ABOUT LAKES,WELLS,BUILDINGS,DWELLINGS,MARSHY AREAS ,PITS ETC

With my knowledge i belive that Quanity Survey is a part of construction field in which we used for calculating the approximate quantity of the item which we were used for construction during the time of execution or may be at the time of tendering also.Mainly it helps both the contractor and the client during the time of payment....But in the case of Land surveying it is the work executed at the worksite inorder to know the nathural site conditions and there by we can execute the work at site propperly and  more accuratly.Like the exact co ordinate points for construction,the levels of the plot.By using the equipments like theodolite,totalstation etc we can do land surveying more accurate.

Land surveying is the art of determining relative positions of objects on the surface of earth by taking measurements in the horizontal and vertical plane.

Land Surveying is the science and art of transferring the information between land and documents.
Such information are normally required for quantity survey especially in case of earthwork related activities.

Land Surveying is very essential part of Civil Engineering. Designing and drawings are based on the initial land surveys therefore may be defined as the first step for Quantity Survey as all the Quantities are taken / based on the drawings prepared on the basis of initial Land Surveys which includes Levels, route, characteristics of site etc.
