Using hard drives with higher rpm speeds and larger cache/buffer sizes will help to increase the transfer speed of the HyperDrive. Prices of hard drives also increase substantially with higher rpm and cache/buffer size ratings. It is estimated that using rpm speeds (currently available in7200,5400 &4200rpm) that are one rating higher will increase the transfer speed by5~10 seconds per GB transferred. This estimation can also be used for larger cache/buffer sizes. However, higher rpm speeds will increase battery consumption by approximately10~20% per speed-rating increase. On the other hand, larger cache/buffer sizes generally have no effect on battery consumption.Taking all this into consideration, we recommend using5400rpm8MB cache hard drive with the HyperDrive.A7200rpm hard drive is only useful when used internally in a notebook computer where the faster bus speed will take full advantage of the higher hard drive rpm.
Revolutions Per Minute, its used to masure the rotational speed.
RPM is the Rotation Per Minute for the hard drive, the traditional one exists so far are5400RPM and7200RPM.
5400rpm is the smart choice when you are storing large files, for example when using the HDD to store backups, movies, pictures, archives; etc.
If, however, you will be using the HDD to act as system drive, running applications from it that care about latency instead of throughput, then you should pick7200rpm HDDs or even better; SSDs.
Hi All, RPM means Rotation per Minute, The RPM is taken into consideration because the more it rotates the more data it can transfer
RPM stands for Revolutions Per Minute. It is a measurement of how many complete revolutions a computer's hard drive makes in a single minute. The higher the RPM, the faster the data will be accessed. It isn't noticable when loadig small data files, but has a great effect when loading large chunks of data.
RPM stands for revolutions per minute and it used to determine the speed of the hard drive.
RPM is the Rotation Per Minute for hard drive it is5400rpm
Revolutions per minutes is important factor to determine the perforamance of harddisks, more RPM means better read/write performance and seek time. For Laptops it's avg around5400 RPM, desktop (3.5" it's7200). For SCSI and SAS drives, it's15k. The Advantage of SSD Drives is that, they dont have any rotational parts, their read / write could be tens or hundreds times better than a mechanical hdd.
R.P.M in hard disk it defines that inside of the hard didk there is attach a motor.for this motor it means Rotation Per minute. If motor speed is more faster your data processing will be faster also it depends on other system manufacturer requirement. So RPM is also considerable parameter for Hard disk.
RPM Stand for Revolution Per minute and it is the measure of how fast the Hard disk spin let say HDD has7200 rpm this mean this HDD can7200 revolution in one minuite and we take RPM into consideration becouse if the HDD has high RPM it took less time to write/read file from HDD so Higher RPM is Preferred
Revolutions Per Minute, which is to read the data as per the rotation speed of the hard disk, more speed means data reading will be faster.
