Can Generator Lube Oil & Transformer Winding Oil Sample analysis help in Preventive Maintenance of Generator / Transformer before Breakdown / Failure?

If regular filtration is done for the oil there is no need of sample analysis. But while in operation if it exceeds the normal oil temperatur then it is necessary to make the oil sample analysis.

The oil sample analysis can help in the PM before breakdown/failure. For example : if the breakdown voltage of the oil sample is very low means the oil contain water or carbon. So , the oil must be regenerated or reconditioned. If not, an insulation breakdown of the transformer will be experienced....etc
