The Warm Start-up or Soft boot is a normal rebooting process we do every now and then. If you reboot a Server using normal restart process which would considered as a warm boot.

Cold Startup - is entirely opposite to the above, when you boot a newly assembled Server or your first power up new server hardware or starting a Server after very long period. This is also known as hard-boot.

There are some differences between a warm and cold booting. A warm boot is what happens when a computer is running and it is restarted(Without Shutdown). A cold boot is when the computer is already off(Shut Down) and the power is turned on. Both can aid in making the computer Machine run more smoothly.

In cold restart, all data in system memory erased evenretentive data.Programs and data in Work memory deleted. But, in a warm restart, all non-retentive data erased from systemmemory and current program and data in work memory will be intact.
