If you take the past successful ventures (inventions, discoveries or in business life), anyone who was and is a success have faced a lot of hardships and obstacles, which will normally push a quitter from trying again. 

It is the will power and the determination of the person to keep trying till their goal is a success that you find the better changes in the society.  The idea is to think in all the possible ways to reach their goal.
