I am not sure I understand clearly what you mean by "workplace drama". Drama has a very wide concept. Kindly clarify or give an example so I can give specifc answers.
Conceptually, managers like all employees are seeking success and within that concept they will have to work towards achiving the company's goals or they will fall on the road. If the company dosen't have clear goals communicated to all staff and every department plans its work to achieve those gols, start to look for another opportunity.
ofcource any drama makes the project manager suffer
normaly you can solve any problem by applaying the contract conditons
I had gone through such situation only once when my boss was very much insecured about his job and created the undue management fear all around the office (biggest drama faced ever in life)
I have to maintain my cool and calm and followed what is right and appropriate.
In case of having issues with sub ordinate staff spreading negativity in the department which impact the office environment.
As a manager, you need to talk to each individual and explain them the consequences and indiscipline, which may affect their personal growth/promotion in the company (including annual appraisals) and leaving extremely bad impression about our department to the senior management. Hope the senior staff would understand and could convince others as well.
What if you are the manager who is facing this kind of workplace drama by subordinates "i.e: gossips, resistance to work, negative attitude, spreading negativity, complains, reluctancy, bakstabbing, etc"
How managers can overcome such porblems?
