Being primarily designed as a spreadsheet program, Microsoft Excel is extremely powerful and versatile when it comes to calculating numbers or solving math and engineering problems. It enables you to total or average a column of numbers in the blink of an eye. Apart from that, you can compute a compound interest and weighted average, get the optimal budget for your advertising campaign, minimize the shipment costs or make the optimal work schedule for your employees. All this is done by entering formulas in cells.
Start with the basics, usually basic formulas involving operands, =1+1, =1*1, or =A1*B2. Next proceed with simple formulas involving ranges: summation: =SUM(A1:A8), Average: =AVERAGE(A1:A8), Minimum =MIN(), Maximum =MAX(), etc.
Then try learning simple IF statements =IF(condition,if value if true, if value if false) or if you prefer to proceed to lookups, start with =VLOOKUP()
Study at your own pace, and don't proceed with the next topic unless you completely understand the fundamentals or the logic of the formula. Learning formulas are like learning languages, start with the basics, and see how you can translate and tell Excel what you want to do
