How do I improve my writing skills to describe a character in a story?

1.Relate to someone real in your life - this can really bring your own character alive.
Observe how people behave, communicate and interact with others: The way the person looks, is there something interesting about the eyes for example.
The clothes, the walk, something unique to that person.
A color, a scent.
Is there a distinct mark or habit, the way character holds a glass or smiles.
Do they have strong likes or dislikes?2.
Research - read the work of other authors.3.
Movies - watch movies, notice how people talk and move.4.
Personal experience - there maybe personal experiences which could be incorporated into the character.5.
Describe your character in just a few, memorable words.

Reading improves your vocabulary and allows you to be more descriptive.
Visualization allows you to be more descriptive as well so try and create an image in your mind.
Finally, when writing try and hone in on specific features of the character.
This will allow you to give better detail of your character

Practice makes you perfect.

i think the first things you have to do before having good skills for describing a charcheter in story:

1-is to read so much books fables newspapers magazines

2-to check dictionnary to make your language wolthier  and espicially getting adjective word genre and use it in meaningfuill sentence3-trying to have the headlines of the writer's stories style and understand haw he is describing a charchater in story this will help you so much :to enhance your capacity in describing the charchater as proffessional
