1- Space is not enught for concrete operation and handling.
2- Time factor especialy and cost effectivenes especialy for repetative elements.
3- Requirement for quality tenison memebers as in bridges.
4- Concrete quality control.
There are three basic reasons of precast concrete technology becoming popular in building construction and they are:
1. Time saving
2. Economised construction
3 Better quality and workmanship
1-complexity of the RC member
2-slenderness of RC member
3-Time needed to execute the structure
4-Repeation of the RC members in order to take the advantages of mass production
the important factors are ;
1. time
2. location of the building
3. the enviroment near the building
1. If we might have incuntered insuffecient space for mixing.
2.If we need perfectly measured proportion of mixes.
3. If we need to speed up the works more faster than insitu-casting of concrete.
1. required wall strenght
2. required slenderness
3.inavailability of working space
4.easy future maintenace on the structural members
Precast concrete is used in places where Time , Space & working movement is restricted.
Most commonly it is now being used in Bridges , rail works etc
It may be recommended where
1. spaces are not available for normal form work.
2. space not available for movement of working Labour & Machinery.
3. Short span of time is available to carry out the job.
Only the design can force me to do this, otherwise I will always design as well in steel as in prefabricated concrete to let my client se the difference in costs, details, building time. People always talk about costs of a steel frame versus a prefabricated frame, but usually forget to calculate the difference in foundation. This can make the difference!
