P2:Discrimination is the unfair treatment of a person due prejudice, stereotyping and being judgmental. People can discriminate for a number of reasons; this could range from race, gender ethnicity, disability, Discrimination can be obvious or not obvious depending on the situation, overt discrimination is obvious and open so everyone can see and know what's happening, the opposite of overt discrimination this is harder to see or notice as its discrimination which is hidden.A basis of discrimination could be stereotyping someone, stereotyping someone is creating ideas of characteristics without even know them, this is a basis as the stereotyping could lead to discrimination by treating someone unfairly. An example of this could be in a social care setting where a nursery helper stereotypes a child with ADHD as trouble and being difficult so they decide to leave the child out of group activities this could cause the child distress and upset and is a form of bullying, the nursery helper may not realize the effects and what they are doing to the child. P3:In care home members of staff were not nice to the residents, for example Jack didn't want to go to bed at8pm and a care worker came in to turn the lights off and Jack was still out of bed. When the care worker walked in and asked Jack why is he still out of bed? Jack told the care worker that he is not tired yet and asked him if he can stay up and read his book. That is the time when the care worker got aggressive and told Jack that he better go to bed otherwise he will physically make him go to bed. Jack told him again that he is not tired and that he would rather prefer if he could read his book on his bed then, but the care worker started swearing and telling him to go to bed and turn the lights of. Jack said "but" and the care accident got to him grabbed him and thrown him onto the bed. Jack got so scared that he quickly got into bed and turned lights off but it was really wrong of the care worker to do what he done. The Care worker could of overcome this by explaining to Jack that it is late and that he should of gone to bed or he could of told Jack that if he is in his bed jack can read the book in bed for a while but not to grab him and to push him around. The care worker have broken the law: "Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedom Act1950" and the care worker have negative behaviour such as aggression or criminality.Btec Level3 work - Unit2 - P2 - P3Marked by teacher and aproved.
