Computer aided drafting (CAD) is the process of creating a design, known as drafting, using computer technology. Computer aided manufacturing (CAM) is the use of computers and Computer Software to guide machines to manufacture something, usually a part that is mass-produced. The relation between CAD and CAM is one of form to function and they are often used together.

CAD creates the design and CAM builds it.

• CAD refers to Computer Aided Design Like SoildWorks & inventor & Pro-E and so on, while CAM stands for Computer Aided Manufacture Like SolidCAM & ESPRIT & PowerCAM and So on.

• CAD and CAM have revolutionized the way things are designed and manufactured.

• CAD and CAM are heavily dependent upon each other.

Well, CAD stands for Computer Aided Design : this means you use a computer to help you design some object,

Then CAM stands for Computer Aided Manufacture: which means you take the computers help to manufacture an object..

Usually these two preocesses go hand in hand, you develop an object that you design using only machines and a computer. usually softwares such as Solidworks and CAXA can be used for such designing during CAD.
