will you correct it to him?? but how about if he repeat it again?? will you tell your team manager??and why??
I will step in and say the following:
"That is correct but just yesterday a slight enhancment to the ............ has been introduced which is even better for customers etc. "
If he keeps repeating the same mistake intentionally then I will have to find a gentle way to convey this issue to the team manager
I'll tell him his fault, but in the way that was not heard anyone, not eventhe client.Then I'll let him know that at any momentI can tell about this fault to his supervisor until3 days, after that we`ll be come true friends)))
In excitement or just to earn customers patronage you go extempore and commit wrong things or give wrong info about a product to customer this is a short cut method and quite un ethical one to get business but we are losing a customers trust for future and lose business permanently from such customer,and If it happens in my presence I will take a lead and quite dilpomatically handle the situation in presence of customer by justifying your colleagues answer to some other product or variant and clear it that it is not with the product under discussion but this feature is available with a product of ours which is not available right now.
Discuss one to one over a cup of tea with your colleague not to give wrong info to customer and explain diligently its repercusiions.
If despite your sincere effort to correct your colleague over this he continues with this wrong doing before getting to customers and giving them facts try and inform your line manager about the issue.
If this wrong information will not harm the company then the management will not reject it. It is better to tell your friend that truth is the best way to gain respect.
If the wrong information may lead to any kind of harm to the company then you should tell your management if your friend repeated it even though you have told him not to do it again.
I will discuss with my friend and correct the information and convince friend not to happen in future.
don't ever say that infront of the constumer use the phone to do that ;)
talk to him about it and give him the chance to get it right. This is not what you do with your friend but with everybody.
