What do you think are the changes Microsoft has/have to make to further improve Excel?

• Changing the chart type of an individual data series in a chart has changed

• Save as Template is no longer on the Chart Tools ribbon

• Pyramid and cone chart types have changed to column and bar chart shapes

• The way you save and use a workbook template has changed

• The Split Box control is gone

• The blank workbook on the Start screen isn’t based on Book.xltx.

• Microsoft Clip Organizer is gone

• Microsoft Office Picture Manager is gone

• Exit no longer available in Office Backstage view

• Fax templates aren’t installed with Office

 

As a program, Excel is about as refined as it can be for the tasks it is designed for.
However, do think that with more and more collaborative working being carried out across work places, improvements could be made to the way Excel manages shared worksheets.
One idea would be to allow a user to temporarily reserve certain cells or a sheet while they are working on it.
This would avoid conflicts where multiple users have been editing the same cells.

Hope new excel remains fast performing when huge number of vlookups exists in it

There's one issue in Excel: In "Data Validation", you can't avoid invalid values if it's copied & pasted...

I have2 big wishes: * Improvement of data exchange between the different office applications, like between Word and Excel.
It can very well be done now, but I find the standard functionalities in Word/Excel/VBA sometimes too limited.
* Improvement of database functions in Excel.
For example, introduction of query objects, or some sort of table-linking.
O.K., it will then come closer to Access, but it will make the analysis of large datasets much easier.
