Guerilla marketing is used when the competitor is a major player in the market and you are a new entity. You do not want the competitor to know about your presence till you have your share of the market.

In terms of sales leads or actual sales it may not be always possible to determine what part was due to gurilla marketing strategy but in the long term in terms of increasing market share certainly the effects of gurilla marketing and flank attack can be determined.
