What you saying is very valid but most important thing is missing, ok now what is something we carry with us inspite of changing companies?
I think attention can never be given to a single individual. Rather than following a hierachy I believe in following a matrix strucutre instead. Priority should always be given to the betterment of the company as a whole. With that said, loyalty should first be given to direct superiors, and then to those of different departments. Any single individual must be able to challenge an idea based on compelling reasoning, the challenge may not always be accepted but bringing a certain problem to a table will eventually help it become a part of a solution.
