How to Handle Material?

Handling and Storing materials is the most important operation in any heavy manufacturing industry.So handling materials involves lots of processes that should be followed or abide by every worker or employee engaging in this system.

         In addition to raw materials, these operations provide a continuous flow of parts and assemblies through the workplace and ensure that materials are available when needed. Unfortunately, the improper handling and storing of materials often result in costly injuries.

 All the employees must have to follow 

1. proper work practices
2. equipment, and control
3.  the potential hazards associated with the task at hand and how to control their workplaces to minimize the danger
4. avoid overloading equipment when moving materials mechanically by letting the weight, size, and shape of the material being moved dictate the type of equipment use
5. knowledgeable about powered equipment, they should take precautions when stacking and storing material
6. Adjust the load to the lowest position when traveling
7. Follow the truck manufacturer’s operational requirements
8. Center the load on the forks as close to the mast as possible to minimize the potential for the truck tipping or the load falling
