Should a good leader also be a good diplomat?

From my experience as a military officer and international law advisor I learned that leadership skills combine well with listening skills and diplomacy.

In my opinion, I think leaders ( in business world ) should have a principles of diplomacy or have a part of diplomatic charisma, since they are represent their organizations and often they make deals or attend receptions , meetings , and they are the speakers . Then, they need the minimum standards of diplomacy

Regarding to internal environment, also they need some of it, since they are inspirers, so they need to convince followers by their diplomatic words

BUT, if we are talking about politics world, then just the diplomatic leader will be survived, because leaders there need a diplomatic beside the intelligence and tough.

No.

Leader is not an ambassador of a country who is honest person sent to lie abroad for the good of his country.” Leader has the liberty to speak what he / she feels. Leader is expected to be an outspoken and transparent to his / her people. Diplomacy is deadly against transparency but in favour of hippocracy.

I believe it is very important to be a good diplomat in order to be a good leader. There are situations in which some subordinates may not agree with the general lot. It is here that the leader should involve his diplomacy skills into the picture and reconcile the two conflicting sides to a mutual decision. Otherwise, the overall performance can be affected, which will further affect the organization as a whole.

A leader without diplomacy is a business without finance, leader is leading plenty number of minds , so its here a case of mind game, sometimes negative diplomacy is necessary to prevent and face big hurdles, and positive diplomacy always lead to positive results. .

Yes off course he should be.  A leader should know what to speak where and when.  In my view a leader is a person who is not only a business function but also a father, a brother, a friend, etc. As a father, a brother, a friend, etc., dont we make sure that the people we deal with dont get hurt with blunt statements or answers.  dont we practice diplomacy in our family?  A lot of people would probably disagree but I personally treat my team as a family and make sure i treat them with respect and at the same time drive my point with inclusiveness.  I have seen a lot of people being very blunt with them team because they are in a leaders position but again I personally do not like that.  For me i would not like my boss being that blunt with me.  i dont appreciate it or like it.
