Dear Rahaf, This answer for this question can be extracted from our answer for our colleague, Cynthia Sfeir, question: " How important is it for Data Entry Clerks to know their keystrokes Per Hour (KPH)? And I will try to configure it again as follows: Companies look for speed and accuracy in data processing, and Data Entry work represents the solution for their purposes.
A keystroke is a count of every time a button is pressed on a keyboard.
Keystrokes are measured per hour (KPH) and words are measured per minute (WPM).
A “word” is defined as five keystrokes.
methods of Calculation:
1- Locate a page of text to use to test your data-entry speed.
At least a full page of text youn should use, but if you are a fast typist, two pages are recommended.
2- Use a word-processing program on your computer to open a new document in which you can type text.
The Notepad accessory that is included with Microsoft Windows can be useful.
3- Start the timer on your stopwatch.
Enter text from your document until you have reached the end of the document, then stop the timer on the stopwatch.
4- For WPM Calculation: a)- Add up every character that you have typed, including spaces.
b)- Divide this total number of characters by the number of seconds recorded on your stopwatch.
i.e., if you typed1,000 characters in90 seconds, your rate would be11.11 characters / second.
5- For KPH calculations: - KPH can be calculated by: determining your typing speed in words per minute (WPM) X5 words X60 minutes to get your keystrokes per hour.
- Other method can be used for measuring KPH is to Convert WPM to KPH, which can be issued in multiplying the wpm by300.
This method of calculation is not100-percent accurate, but comes pretty close, because keying alphabets usually takes more keystrokes than numbers, to accommodate for longer words, phrases and sentences.
I hope that will be useful for you

There is a easy way to calculate the speed, you can use typing master2000 software which can be easily found on internet for download.
If not, rather doing math after your typing or using a stopwatch is not a good idea when you can do it free.
Use MS Word, open a new file not time start writing your page or paragraph.
then just look in the left corner where it shows total words of that document.
Now you know when you started to type and when you stopped.
simply divide it to your time and get your WPM.
You can use word count tab to know more exact details of what you have typed eg.
total keys punched, spaces, etc.
