In general you simply would want content insurance. Other types of insurance basically boil down to content insurance in which you are insuring items.  Most companies will ask that you set a total insured amount, and then identify individual items over 'X' amount, such as AED5,000 per item.  You can then include riders for losses while traveling, or losses while outside of the home.  We have around AED250,000 coverage for a villa and pay around AED900 per year.  We've have2 claims in6 years, but both were essential and we were glad to have had the coverage.  There is also a deductible, similar to a medical insurance copayment.  AED200 to500 is normal, though lower is better if you are making a claim.

You need fire & bulglary insurance policy for your home contents.

Also you may need personal accident insurance policy for pesonal incidents and personal effects

 Thanking You

Your Primary Concern with regards to a rental property (Your property) is building and structural insurance. This will protect you against major damages to the building from fire / accident etc.

The second part of the policy is to cover the services - Geysers / Electrical etc against accidental damage (leaks, electrical shorts etc)

Content insurance is for your tenants responsibility unless you are renting the apartment fully furnished and even then it is recommended as a separate policy and not linked to the building.

As a property owner, you need the building & content insurance. In addition to this if you lease the property, Landlord's Insurance is highly recommended. this type of insurance covers loss of rent up to certain period and malicious damage caused by the tenant.
