Internet - can do so many tasks online now that clerical input not required. Can order items with having to ask clerical worker to find out information. In the click of a few buttons, orders and deliveries can be made.
Email - can now send many emails within a few seconds. No need to ask clerical worker to make calls.
Voicemail/answer machines - people can leave messages. No more missed messages because no-one manning the office telephones.
Al-in-one printer and fax machines. No longer really need a clerical work to fax documents. This role can be added to an Admin Asst or Secretary role.
Automation - machines that can stamp envelopes, for companies that still use stamps. Also have franking machines with do not require stamps but print postage on envelope instead.
