Of course if you hae he chance to increase the lead-time then that is great.  If you fail to plan then you plan to fail and if have enough time to fix things then you are planned ahead and you will not get any problems in-front of you.

Inventory levels will be at its best in calculating the minimum vs maximum stock when you know the lead-time ahead.
