Ethanol is produced domestically from corn and other crops and produces less greenhouse gas emissions than conventional fuels.
Biodiesel
Biodiesel is derived from vegetable oils and animal fats. It usually produces less air pollutants than petroleum-based diesel.
(Compressed natural gas (CNG
Natural gas is a fossil fuel that generates less air pollutants and greenhouse gases.
Propane
Propane, also called liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is a domestically abundant fossil fuel that generates less harmful air pollutants and greenhouse gases.
Hydrogen
Hydrogen can be produced domestically from fossil fuels (such as coal), nuclear power, or renewable resources, such as hydropower.
There are various types of biofuels available and most of countries are adopting the use of biofuels. For gasoline engine - E10 and E85 type -gasohol (ethanol and gasoline in combination) most commonly used. Now a days lot of flexi fuel vehicles (FFV) are used which sets the air fuel ratio according to ethanol content. Brazil is one of the country uses gasohol. Further for diesel engine -B5, B7 and B10 biodiesel (vegetable oil - Jajoba / karanja oil, etc in Diesel). Some of european OEMs are doing lot of working of ED95 fuel.
