Adding to the above answer the following advantages for using IP cameras:
- Higher resolution Megapixel cameras can save money by replacing multiple analog cameras with a single IP camera to cover the same area.
- Higher frame rates per second can be achieved using IP cameras
- IP PTZ cameras does not need a control wire to be connected to the NVR
- On the long run Ip cameras is more cost effective than analog
- IP cameras minimized the cabling efforts that were needed by analog cameras (The IP camera can be connected to the nearest switch which is connected to the network while analog cameras cables should all be pulled physically to the DVR it self)
Conclusion: Analog cameras will eventually disappear from the market or will only be limited to small installations and small budget projects
Dear
Now a days all make DVRs have IP technology. now lets come to question.
IP camera have good qualites and some bad also .
Pros:
1. single cable for both signal and power (if POE enabled)
2. can view it from any location over IP.
3. it maintenace is easy no grounding or earthing problem also. which generally occur with analog one.
cos.
1. as iinternet is not fully securedso threat of hacking is there.
2. expensive in comparision to analog cameras.
