From my point of view I believe that ‘Not everyone is management material’
Promoting your best people into management roles seems like a quick fix to show employees you recognize their hard work. Unfortunately, many companies find out the hard way that not every great employee is management material.
Thanks you all ladies and gentlemen who participate in such healthy discussion and brain storming
Before promoting your best people, here are some questions you should ask yourself:
1. Is your employee aligned with company goals?
2. Does your employee have good people skills?
3. Can they see the big picture?
4. Can they listen?
5. Can they help your company grow?
6. Can they motivate a team?
7. Do they really want to manage?
Bad management can truly hurt your company, kill employee morale, and bring down your bottom line. Before promoting someone to a management position, ask yourself those questions in order to ensure you’re making the right decision.
i will vote with irphan ghani,,,being good sales man its not the guarentee that he will be best sales manager,,, it need management skill to coach the team, make plans for whole area,, thats entire different game.
May be and Why not?
Sales manager was also earlier in that position. Addition of developed skills and desire to take new challenges made the person climbe the responsibility ladder.
yes if he/she can complete all sale managarial duties
Yes it is possible when company capitalizes on his to be successful skill / his competitive edge by providing him additional management training.
Yes and no
Yes cause he has been the filed previously and has a good vision about the obstacles and challenges that are facing the salesman
No
Cause some people just don’t have that management or should I be more specific leading skills due to many factors
Well,
Grouth is not birth right of some.
I personally say: "Top Possition is always empty to be occupied"
A successful sales person can be a better or best Manager too, given the fact that he have or built the attributes of leadership in him.
People who have a knack for understanding consumer buying behaviour and can encash it always have an edge over others. Hence If someone is good at sales and a leader by default, that person is undeniably fit to lead that department, and maybe even the company. The core of any successful business/company is the ability to show an upward financial growth consistently.
I DESAGREE BECAUSE THE MANAGER MUST HAVE ANOTHER PROPERTIES
