Because it is a very hard job but recently there are more and more women on the job
Because men are usually better at cooking than women, In addition, cooking is a hard job which need some to stand / work for long hours and also to lifting heavy sauces, Which some women cant afford to do.
Women cook food in the homes and home-makers by profession. Men on the contrary take up cooking as a profession and hence become Paid Cooks or Chefs.
Professional Cooking means working in Hotels & Restaurants till late in the night, a work which most women shall not like to take up.
Men become successful chef because it is their interest and do it with passion, explore their creativity in coming up with new dishes, etc. Whereas women do not take up cooking as a passionate job, it is more of a daily routine for them.. That's why most women usually do not come up with creative dishes as they do not take cooking as their interest...
It's all about interest vs routine job..
Cooking is not a task that should be attributed a particular gender. It can be performed by anyone irrespective of gender or even age. It is not right to make such generalizations.
The sad part is that there is a wrong perception floating around that cooking is a job for women. This has to change and the only way we can do that is by educating the people and changing such primitive mindsets.
