To me organizational transformation is all about a new focus (Vision) that requires a change (alignment) in how employees think act or behave how resources are allocated, processes aligned, functions are structured, and progress is measured and recognized. It happens for example when offices centralize or decentralize, after mergers or acquisitions, when leadership changes or market requirements like new technology requirements (social business?) require adaption.
I would look at the organizations from those three angles:
The place where we work (Employee experiences, smooth processing, systems, values)
The place where our customers shop (qualitative and timely collaboration, values)
The place where our investors invest (ROI drivers, values)

Organizational transformation is essentially a partnership, a collaborative effort at charting a clear road map that will take you to from ‘where you are right now’ to ‘where you want to be’.
It's the way for success and the way for more experience to the managerial level, some times we can't bear it and others not, but at all it's very useful
