Any organization needs to be on top of what its training needs are. One of the best ways to do this is via a training needs analysis. Coordinating training that is of little or no value to the organization is an exercise in futility. It is also critical that an evaluation be done at the end of any training to find out its value to the participants and that these participants are followed for a period after the training completion, to find out if it helped them to contribute to the organization. Senior executives are demanding proof of training validity and this means solid metrics via evaluation. These executives need affirmation that any training and development is contributing to the bottom line.
