tempreture have a direct affect in gaz chromatography
if we use the relation P V=n R T R is constante
Volume and Temprature is proportional to the Pressure
so if the temprature increase the pressure or /and the volume increase
when we say volume we say the teh gaz flow then the atomic matter adherance
so the temprature have a direct affect in the fiablty of chromatography
When it comes to GC it's all about temperature:
First of all, injection temperature must be selected to homogenously evaporate the sample) especially if you're using Headspace injector!), selecting lower temperature would result in very weak signals and selecting higher temperature would result in the decomposition of components or the explosion of the sample vial! That's why you've to select the exactly suitable temperature, not a bit higher or lower!
Secondly, the column temperature program is essential for the resoultion of the components peaks. As explained by Mr. Helal, the higher the temperature the higher the pressure will get causing the peaks to get closer and eventually overlap!
Thirdly, for the detector's temperature (especially if you are using a temperature depndant technique like flame ionization). The temperature must be sufficient to detect readable signal or else, you'll have no clue of the separation's occerence no matter how perfect your method already is!
