Yes, unfortunately, there are times when you have to lie to do the right thing but only ifthere might be serious circumstances and situations when lying does rescue a precarious situation. It can help someone in distress and save someone's marriage or a doctor and his patients you cannot tale some one that you are going to die even if he is. Only in such situations lying escape as a 'good thing to do. Telling a lie leads you to another lie! and lie is always disrespect.
Yes if someone lies for benefit of any other or for any good cause it is not bad.
lying for me is unethical and unprofessional. lying will never end once its start... so why go through all the hassle when you can just save a lot of time and energy by the truth.. because it will always be revealed sooner or later! :)

It is not always wrong if we do it for keep others disgrace. It doesn't mean that we should tell something/ another nice story to cover the disgrace/ badness of someone, we only need to lie that we don't know (although actually we knew the disgrace/ badness). Personally I prefer say that I didn't know or keep silent.
i think , If you need to lie to someone to protect their feelings, then you shouldn't say anything. If you need to lie for a good cause, then your cause will be tainted by the fact that you had to lie for it. Just tell the truth or remain silent.
