PMP Ethical Standards?

How should PMP's handle the ethical challenge of working in countries where human rights are not being meet according to international standards? Do you find or think that this would be in contravention of the PMI standards of ethical standards which all PMP's are to follow? Should the PMI suspend those working in areas where international standards are not adhered to? Why or why not?

Well punishing the PMP member for working in a country where human rights are not fully respected is counter productive because:

1- It is a form of collective punishment, which a practice by itself stands against human rights

2- When you are training PMPs on ethical values, these become like your ambassadors, they might gradually try to implement the ethical standards where they are working.

3- Maybe these Project managers are born into these countries and have nowhere else to go

Decline the offer in such condition is best.

When you opt to work in another country, you will be expected to work accoring to the "norms" of that country.

If this means ethical/legal violations that you personally cannot accept/tolerate, then it is better to decline work offers in such countries/environments
