Although it is the side effect of the medication but it very really effect the patient's those who receive immunosuppressive after renal transplant may be having this problem but in normal routine we never come across the patient using amlodipine having such side effect. Gingival hyperplasia can occur as side effect of a number of medicines. For example anticonvulsants (phenytoin), immunosuppressive drugs (cyclosporine A) and calcium channel blockers (nifedipine and amlodipine). Kidney failure patients receiving kidney transplant are on immunosuppressive medicines so can have side effect of gingival hyperplasia.
