There is a number of characteristics common to successful salespeople, first is Professionalism, second Ability to communicate, third Inteligence, fourth Ability to analyze, fifth Motivation, sixth Efficiency, seventh Persistence, eighth Empathy and ninth Curiosity.
Great interpersonal skills and self motivation is what I would like to see in a salesman. There are many salesmen and women I know who are great in what they do only because of their personal skills.
