If the salary is below range from expectation or current pay. Then I may refuse.
"Second thought"...I might not grab the opportunity for several reasons.
Well, PRACTICALLY it all depends on where do I stand. If have a job then I will think about the offer taking various factors in to consideration. But, on the other hand, if I am out of job and have liabilities then ….SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING
If this "far below" figure is NOT acceptable to you at all. Make it clear and prompt at the spot before you leave the interview. If you are in doubt or you may be under pressure to lower your expectations, then buy some time, and ask for a "grace period" to say yes or no ... You may also ask for a "written" offer with the salary, position, job descriotion ,,, etc and a grade period of2-4 weeks to respond to that !! For me ... I do NOT steo into an interview without setting the expectations at the right level right from the beginning to avoid these situations from the start !!
This could be avoided IF before the interview the recruiter will ask you about your latest pay slip, and once you provided it, they can see that their offer is less and obviously wont call you for interview, will send you regret reply ( is over their budget or you are over qualified).
According to your question ( Far below of my expectations ), I will refuse this offer immediatly & theres no need to ask for grace period, In which the offer far away from my Expectations.
Thanks
SIMPLY REFUSE THIS OFFER....DO NOT GET EMOTIONAL,,,ITS PROFESSIONAL ISSUE,,DO NOT TAKE IT SERIOUS,,,,GOOD LUCK
Each job should have a reasonable pay frame.
If you got a lower offer than what the market is offering or what your market price is, then you should definitely drop that offer especially since comapnies and goverments do not cater to each and every personal situation, keeping in mind that our world is becoming very economically brutal, and those companies always try to maximise their win by paying employess less amounts and requesting for "slavery kind" work duties.
If you have gone to this interview with no idea of the expected salary then you are immediately "behind the8 ball"! When they make their offer let them know in no uncertain terms what YOU expect and indeed what YOU think you are worth to them. It might very well be that they are trying to get you on "the cheap" and if you make a stand and outline your "requirements" they might then realise that that is what they should pay or risk losing your services,if they don't, then you might have to ask yourself "do I really want to work for this company"?
in my field salary or base salary is just a start. we work on commision plus base.
if i am offered a base sallary that is much lower than my previous ,then i have to investigate the following;
first i would investigate the brand and products i am to promote and what hidden opportunities i can uncover and benefit financially from.i would also confirm percentage commission offered.
the second is the company's track record and wealth building strategies,some companies will grow your wallet as long as you are growing their's.and some will only use you to grow their bank accounts and not yours.
i never said no to an offer before i investigate and try to uncover hidden opportunities that can be hiiden,understand the comany,the products,the market,your impact,your competitors,and your company's policy toward your financial and professional growth. then make your decision.and try to always accept what you are offered and build wealth.
Really i face that , according to my needs i have accpet that offer beacuse i can't find any in that time , but according to my experince a few month later i found company which see how much i can add value and i swear i took that time4 times my salary , finally i wish every one to wait and think a100 times before say no to any job as we all pass by hard times before good times.
