Sir, for me, my boss is my boss; he is not someone am waiting for to make me special, the only one who is responsible about making me special is me, and nobody else.

And if my boss has an apple of his eye, wont affect me what so ever; what if I was his apple of his eye because of a specific project for example and the project was finished? what would happen for me after that? would I remain the apple of his eye, or if the project failed; would that mean I will lose my job?

And from another perspective, this will be a personal relation; not a professional one, and lately I have seen how does that effect the job badly, and both the boss and his apple of his eye.

Focusing on your routine task and learning means to improve yourself fills up your time at work. An envy person normally has nothing to do, just focusing on others weakness rather than themselves. You may not be the apple to your boss but other people around are seeing your efforts. He may be essential if you're aiming for a position but he cannot stop you from learning.

In the long run, that would divert his attention to you.

Actually, if you know yourself that you are working hard and your colleagues, other bosses from different departments and customers can see and feel it and appreciate your hard work. I think appreciation of two is better than one. And you don't have to be worry that you are not the apple of the eye of your boss because as you get lots of appreciation by then your big boss will appreciate your work.

If you are doing your work properly and making the best out it and your boss didn't notice it. It only means that your boss has a personal intention to his apple of the eye ;)

This is Only personal incentive to maintain a high level of work productivity and perform the very best you can focusing on what you do and continue to produce quality end product/project results.  The supervisor will eventually see the strong qualities that you posess.

from my work history , it doesn't matter your boss feel or see , the only matter is you and only you , meaning you always MUST have deep inside you ((( self motivation ))) as we all pass by hard times before good times not only in our work but in our whole life , by sequence you must make self motivation regardless the factors arround you , but you must keep your spirit up in order to be a life.

Ignore! Believe yourself. You have a value which far exceeds that of your boss. Don't be envious of others. Cooperate with others. As humans, we have many weaknesses. Learn from others - their weaknesses which in turn reflect your own darker self. Be vigilant and truthful. Success is yours.

Professionally, it is not important to be the apple of the eye of the Boss. You have to be the apple of your own eye i.e. putting in your best for the job not for the boss.

It depend where you are, and depend who you boss is and what culture he is from and what mentality he has accumulated all his life and what region of the world he is. Bosses in the US are different than Bosses in Indonesia or Malaysia , and completely different than French bosses in the middle east or English bosses in the Arab world, and also completely different than bosses in the Muslim world.  As someone who had his share of bad bosses and somehow good bosses, in Africa, middle east, America and Europe ,  It is very difficult to pinpoint or unravel the cognitive comportment of a manager or whatever the ladder he is in. however , someone who directly work with you have his interest that you do your job well and do it without undermining his imposition. Today manager are more aggressive and trickier than before, however they can also fear repercussion of the tandem of the unseen process of human resources. There’s no bad soldier but bad leaders. I have seen directors and manager getting down to the defensive position from low level employees just because the low level employee is an all employee that fit his criterias. A manager should respect himself and others and then the word is spread and he is in a better position not to be hit by the allegation against him. I had bosses who admired me in my jobs and claimed me in all his meeting as an achiever. I left and he hired me back and while his bosses did not like me , he was standing in front me with a sorry face while his boss let me go because I have been little stiff against my employee constant smoke breaks and it happen one of them was the cousin of the owner. You know what I mean. He should have been defending me but when it comes to fan, he definitely does not want the crap hitting him in his face.  I am finishing a book about human resources and the discourses , and defiance’s I am putting into place against all managerial incompetence and potentiality that is disregarded just because the temper , cultural, and other silly cognitive thinking emanating from the mind of the interviewer that a man or a woman is not hired, and not chosen to make a living .
