Salary expectation is totally depend on candidate total experience and market compensation rate or company sector. its change time to time as per employer and market.
Look at your current salary. You may have to aim lower or higher depending on what you’re looking to transition into.
Salary is a vital factor for selection of employees. Employer and employee can mutually talk on this issue. However, employee does not talk it first, if employer asks the expection of salary then employee can say the expection of the salary.
If I know already that company which Im lookig to be hired is one of the pioneer companies, my answer is : According to your Company policy & my respectable qualifications & expertice.
State your current salary , then convince them that this is fair , and do not over price yourself,
Personally I just answer it with my true expectations.There is no point of playing around I usually have expectations and good employer have fixed offers based on an HR ranking system that should not be affected by your expectations... I personally think if my answer is going to affect thier offer then I probably do not want to work for them.

First of all you must take some time to research salaries, and find out what similar positions are paying in your area and follow my advises below:-
- Consider how competitive the market is for your skills and let that inform the number you put down.
- Look at your current salary and typical salary progression for the industry you’re in.
- If there is an opportunity to list a range, do so but make sure the lower end of the range is a number you’re comfortable with.
- Make sure you are realistic and honest about your salary expectations.
Finally, go beyond Negotiation.

I honestly inform the prospective employer my (salary) rate because I am confident of my abilities and capabilities. If, in the event that the employer finds it too high, I seldom negotiate. It's either they take it or leave it. I know my worth and I see to it that I am not taken advantage of, at the same time, I make sure that the employer (company) is not at the losing end.
